TL;DR
Typeform, Tally, and Jotform have no "transfer form" button. Google Forms only transfers within the same org. The workaround is rebuilding from scratch — unless you use Form Mate to export from one account and import into another in under 90 seconds. Works same-platform or cross-platform across all four supported builders.
You have a form on Typeform. Your client needs it on their Typeform account. Or you built a Tally.so form under your personal account and now need it under the company workspace. Simple, right?
Not really. Typeform has no "send to another account" button (Typeform Help Center, 2026). Tally doesn't either (Tally Help, 2026). Google Forms lets you transfer ownership — but only within the same Google Workspace org (Google Drive Help, 2026). Cross-org? Personal to business? You're out of luck.
We tested every available option across all four platforms — Google Forms, Tally, Typeform, and Jotform. Here's what actually works — including a way to transfer any form between accounts in under two minutes.
Why Can't You Just Transfer a Form to Another Account?
Form builders lock forms to accounts. They want you to upgrade, add seats, buy a team plan. Transferring a form to someone else's account means one fewer reason for them to pay. Typeform's team plan starts at $83/month just to share workspace access (Typeform pricing, 2026).
| Platform | Native Transfer? | What Actually Works |
|---|---|---|
| Google Forms | Same org only | Transfer ownership (same org) or "Make a copy" (loses responses) |
| Tally.so | No | Duplicate within workspace only. No cross-account transfer. |
| Typeform | No | Share workspace access ($83/mo team plan). No form-level transfer. |
| Jotform | No | "Clone form" only works within the same account. Multi-user collaboration requires Bronze+ at $34/month — and forms still stay owned by the original account. |

The workaround most people use: manually recreate the form. Open the original, screenshot every question, rebuild it field by field in the target account. When we timed this on a 10-question form, it took about 15 minutes. For a 40-question intake form with dropdowns and conditional logic — that's an afternoon you won't get back.
How Do You Transfer a Google Form to Another Account?
Google Forms has the best native transfer support — but it only works if both accounts are in the same Google Workspace organization. Cross-org and personal Gmail transfers are not supported through the native transfer feature.
Same Workspace org (supported)
If both accounts are in the same Google Workspace org (e.g., alice@company.com to bob@company.com), you can transfer ownership directly:
- Open the form in Google Drive
- Right-click → Share
- Add the target user as Editor
- Click the dropdown next to their name → "Make owner"
This transfers everything — the form, all responses, and the linked spreadsheet. We tested this between two accounts on a shared Workspace and it was instant. Clean and simple.
Cross-org or personal accounts (not supported)
Transferring ownership between a personal Gmail and a Workspace account? Google locks the "Make owner" option to same-org accounts (Google Drive Help). Different Workspace orgs? Same restriction. Your options:
- "Make a copy" — the target user opens the form link, goes to File → Make a copy. They get the form structure but lose all responses, sharing settings, and add-ons.
- Use Form Mate — export from Account A, import into Account B with all field types, options, and structure preserved. More on this below.
Can You Transfer a Typeform to a Different Account?
Not natively. Typeform ties forms to workspaces, and workspaces to accounts. There is no "transfer form" feature anywhere in the platform. We checked the API documentation, the admin settings, and the help center — the only option Typeform offers is workspace sharing, which requires a team plan at $83/month (Typeform pricing).
What Typeform offers instead
- Share workspace access — invite the other person to your workspace. They can view and edit the form, but it stays in your account. Requires the team plan ($83/month). And if you remove them later, they lose access entirely.
- Duplicate — you can duplicate a form within your own workspace. That's it. No cross-account duplication.
- API export — Typeform's API lets you read form definitions (Typeform Developer Docs). But there's no "import form definition" endpoint. You'd need to build the import yourself — mapping every field type, option, and logic rule to the Create API.
The real-world scenario: a freelancer builds a Typeform for a client. Project ends. Client needs the form on their own account. Typeform's answer: the client should recreate it, or the freelancer should stay on a paid plan to keep sharing workspace access. Neither option is reasonable.
How to transfer a Typeform to another account
- Go to formmate.app/convert → select Typeform → Typeform
- Enter Account A's personal access token (source)
- Pick the form you want to transfer
- Enter Account B's personal access token (target)
- Review the field mapping, hit convert
When we transferred a 20-field lead gen form with conditional logic between two Typeform accounts, the entire process took 87 seconds. The form was created fresh in Account B. Both tokens are used once and never stored. No workspace sharing, no team plan, no monthly fee.
Can You Transfer a Tally Form to Another Account?
No. Tally.so is generous with its free tier — unlimited forms, unlimited responses, conditional logic — but form transfers between accounts are not a feature. There's no API endpoint, no export/import function, and no "send to another account" option (Tally Workspaces Help).
What Tally offers instead
- Duplicate — within your own workspace. Creates an exact copy, same account. Useful for templating but not for account transfers.
- Share link — anyone can fill out the form, but the form and responses stay in your account. The other person gets zero ownership.
- Workspace members — invite collaborators to edit forms in your workspace. But the form doesn't move. They're just editors, not owners.
How to transfer a Tally form to another account
- Go to formmate.app/convert → select Tally.so → Tally.so
- Enter Account A's API key (starts with
tly-) - Pick the form to transfer
- Enter Account B's API key
- Review and convert — done
Form Mate reads the form from Account A, maps it through the intermediate schema, and creates it fresh in Account B. We tested this with a 15-field feedback form — the transfer completed in 72 seconds. No workspace restrictions, no plan requirements.
Can You Transfer a Jotform to Another Account?
Not directly. Jotform's "Clone Form" feature only duplicates forms inside the same account, and the official help center spells it out: forms cannot be moved between Jotform accounts (Jotform Help — Cloning forms). Multi-user collaboration starts at the Bronze plan ($34/month), and even then forms stay owned by the original account — collaborators just get edit access.
What Jotform offers instead
- Clone form — duplicates a form inside your own account only. Same account, new copy. No way to clone into someone else's account.
- Multi-user accounts — invite teammates to edit forms you own. Requires Bronze+ ($34/month). They can edit but not own.
- API export — Jotform's API lets you read form definitions (Jotform API Docs). Re-creating the form in another account means writing a custom script that maps every Jotform field type to the Create endpoint — a project on its own.
How to transfer a Jotform to another account
- Go to formmate.app/convert → select Jotform → Jotform
- Enter Account A's API key (32-char alphanumeric, US or EU region)
- Pick the form to transfer
- Enter Account B's API key
- Review the field mapping, hit convert
Form Mate restores Jotform-specific field types on same-platform transfers — signature, image picker, collapse, and button blocks land back on the target form as native Jotform controls instead of being downgraded. We moved a 22-field intake form between two Jotform accounts (US to EU) and the transfer finished in 95 seconds. API keys are used once, never stored.
What Gets Transferred — and What Doesn't?
Same-platform transfers through Form Mate copy the form structure — the same result you'd get from manually recreating the form, but in 90 seconds instead of an afternoon. Here's exactly what carries over:
| Transferred | Not Transferred |
|---|---|
| All questions and field types | Existing responses / submissions |
| Answer options (dropdowns, choices) | Integrations (webhooks, email, Zapier) |
| Required/optional field settings | Collaborator / sharing settings |
| Page breaks and sections | Analytics and submission data |
| Field descriptions and help text | Custom branding / themes |
| Conditional logic rules | Connected spreadsheets |
Responses don't transfer because they're tied to the original form ID in the platform's database. If you need historical response data, export it as CSV from the source account before transferring.
When Does Same-Platform Transfer Actually Matter?
This isn't a niche edge case. We hear from users hitting this wall every week. Here are the most common scenarios:
- Freelancer → Client handoff. You built the form, project is done, client needs it on their own account. You shouldn't have to maintain a paid plan just to keep sharing access.
- Personal → Company account. Prototyped a form under your personal account. Now it needs to live under the team workspace. No native way to move it on Typeform or Tally.
- Agency work. You manage forms for multiple clients across separate accounts. Transferring a form template between client accounts shouldn't require rebuilding it from scratch every time.
- Workspace consolidation. Merging two Tally or Typeform accounts into one. Each form needs to be moved individually — and there's no bulk transfer on either platform.
- Account migration. Switching from a personal email to a business email on the same platform. Your forms are stuck on the old account with no way to move them.
What If You Want to Switch Platforms While Transferring?
If you're already going through the effort of moving a form, it might be worth considering whether the current platform is even the right one. Form Mate supports every conversion direction across Google Forms, Tally.so, Typeform, and Jotform:
- Typeform → Google Forms — stop paying $29/mo for features Google gives free
- Typeform → Tally.so — same modern UX, unlimited responses, $0
- Google Forms ↔ Tally.so — move in either direction
- Jotform → Google Forms, Tally, or Typeform — escape Jotform's 100-submission cap or HIPAA upcharge
- Not sure which platform to pick? — compare all free form builders side by side
Same tool, same 90-second process. Convert and transfer between platforms or within the same platform — whatever gets the form where it needs to be.
Ready to Transfer?
Convert and transfer your form — same platform or cross-platform. Free, no signup, takes about 90 seconds.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I transfer a Typeform to another Typeform account?
Not natively. Typeform has no form transfer feature — only workspace sharing, which requires a team plan at $83/month. You can use Form Mate to export from one Typeform account and import into another automatically, preserving all field types, options, and logic rules.
Can I transfer a Google Form from a personal Gmail to a Workspace account?
No. Google Forms only supports ownership transfer between accounts within the same Workspace organization. For cross-org or personal-to-Workspace transfers, you can use "Make a copy" (which loses all responses) or use Form Mate to recreate the form in the target account with structure preserved.
Does transferring a form also transfer the responses?
No. Form transfers copy the form structure — questions, field types, options, logic rules, and page breaks. Existing responses stay in the source account because they're tied to the original form ID. Export your responses as CSV from the source account before transferring if you need the historical data.
Can I transfer a Tally form to a different Tally account?
Tally has no native transfer or export feature. The only built-in option is duplicating a form within the same workspace. Form Mate reads the form via the Tally API from Account A and creates it in Account B — the transfer takes under 90 seconds and preserves all supported field types.
Can I transfer a Jotform to a different Jotform account?
Jotform's "Clone Form" feature only duplicates forms inside the same account, and there's no cross-account transfer in the UI or API. Form Mate moves a form between two Jotform accounts in about 90 seconds — including across regions (US ↔ EU). Same-platform transfers also restore Jotform-specific field types like signature, image picker, and collapse blocks instead of degrading them.
Is there a way to bulk transfer multiple forms at once?
Not currently. None of Google Forms, Tally, Typeform, or Jotform offer bulk transfer. Form Mate handles one form at a time — each transfer takes about 90 seconds. For workspace consolidation with many forms, plan for roughly 2 minutes per form including review.
